Love :)
love is almost impossible to capture in music, and i’ve never seen it better expressed than in Oh, Yoko’s “I Love You…”. it’s one of the most beautiful albums i’ve ever heard and makes you feel what it feels like to be in love. as someone who is in love, this album captures the beautiful little moments and feelings of love. what it feels like to look into your partners eyes and see nothing but pure, unadulterated adoration, thinking about spending your entire life with them, thinking about running your fingers through their hair and smiling, et cetera. this album, above all, reminds us that love is beautiful. love is beautiful and emotional and amazing and “I Love You…” is somehow able to capture that.

bliss is a word i'd use to describe this album
i love you is such a beautiful pattern of words, an important way of expressing major feelings towards someone. it's extremely fitting why that would be the name of this record. this entire album is the sound equivalent of sharing a connection with someone you truly admire. these songs remind me of the daydreams i would have with a girlfriend of mine, as i couldn't get her off my mind which is how the epitome of the feeling of falling in love is like. with the synths that are blended in with the lush vocals coming from Rie Mitsutake, the acoustic guitars, the field recordings. everyone just comes together into a soft composition that just wraps you in a blanket for 57 minutes telling you how important your existence is, which makes the essential way of listening to this literally laying in a bed wrapped around a blanket. so melancholic, yet so soothing and protecting.

14 Love Song
Love is a tough thing to capture in music, even given the format's infinite possibilities. How does one even begin to interpret that gut feeling of warmth and dedication as a singular sound, much less a whole song or album of content? It might take a life-changing realization, whether that come as an initially negative event like a case of heartbreak or through a more enlightening and triumphant process like marriage. For the duo behind Oh, Yoko, it was the latter, as prolific drone artist Will Long (also known as Celer) found love with folk musician Rie Mitsutake, or Miko, and together the husband and wife manage to unlock the secret formula of how to communicate such adoration through their music. I Love You... is the sonic equivalent to flipping through a scrapbook documenting your early childhood, vaguely remembering blurry scenes of each labeled day and recalling people who helped you enjoy your earliest years. The base ambience of the album is fused together by household electronics and playthings, personifying the fulfilled fantasy of sharing a home life, and Will's proficiency in composing flavorful hushed environments meshes beautifully with Miko's soft cooing alternating between Japanese and English. With lively samples and drum patterns, it's a more active listen than either of their solo inventories, but a precious rainy-day pillow fort intimacy still blooms at the core of the record. There's so much care and thought put into every little portion of this album that it may as well have fallen from the heavens that it alludes to in the title of its first song. I Love You... is something you might hear when stumbling upon an enchanted garden in the wilderness, its pastel-hued lullabies singing a whole toadstool village of fairies to a good night's sleep. The authenticity of emotion that Celer and Miko have achieved here is a testament to their own personal bond, as well as their separate and combined aptitude for calming atmospheres. There's a lot of ambient albums out there, but this is easily the most romantic. ★★★★

I Love You... is a beautiful and, at least in my experience, incomparable album. Pretty much everything about it is subdued yet rather bright. A variety of pleasant sounds fill the record, including vocals, acoustic guitar, piano, assorted recordings, and lots and lots of synths all blissfully blended together. Most of the songs build on each other while containing distinct sounds, though none have the substance to stand on their own. I say "pretty much" and "most" with tracks like Grand Prix and Keio Line in mind, which aren't bad songs by any means but are dominated by beats which, at first, are a jarring contrast. This is by no means a heavy listen, but I think it's pointless to listen to passively or with stuff on your mind. This is partly due to the calm of the album, and partly due to its slightly bloated length. When you are in the right mindset though, I recommend giving this a listen.

there's something so heartbreaking about that ellipsis... i love you (in a whisper) i love you... (the whisper wilts, eliding) ...if there were such a thing as love
