COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Keeley Carter, a former standout player for the Trevecca University women's basketball team, is ready to embark on a new chapter in her basketball career. After completing her college tenure, Carter has decided to spend her graduate year showcasing her talent on the court at Tennessee Tech, making it official by signing with the Golden Eagles on Thursday.

Carter's journey to this point has been nothing short of impressive. Hailing from Lafayette, Tenn., she quickly made a name for herself at Trevecca University. Over the past four years, the guard has not only excelled in her athletic pursuits but has also demonstrated remarkable success in the classroom, graduating Suma Cum Laude.

She delivered a historic senior campaign, averaging 21.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game while also adding 3.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game. The newest member of the Golden Eagles shot 47.2% from the field, 36.5% from 3-point range, and 82.3% from the free-throw line, all while playing a vital role in helping the Trojans advance to their first-ever NCAA Division II Tournament in 2023 and a return in 2024.

Carter comes to Cookeville after a prolific career at Trevecca, leaving as the fourthleading scorer in all of NCAA Division II for the 2023-24 season and setting nearly all of Trevecca's NCAA D2 era game, season, and career records. She garnered Great Midwest Conference First Team and Championship All-Tournament team honors and was just recently named Second Team Academic All-American® by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). This award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

The Tech newcomer's ambition and drive have always pushed her to seek new challenges and opportunities for growth. With her eyes set on the future, she made the decision to transfer to Tennessee Tech for her graduate year, eager to test her abilities at the Division I level.

"I had four great years at Trevecca, but I wanted my last year to be my best year," Carter expressed. "I believe that can happen at Tennessee Tech. The overall atmosphere of the University, the campus, the academics, coaches, staff, and players were all so welcoming. Cookeville is also close to my hometown, and that is very important to me. If I had to describe Tennessee Tech in one word it would be family. Before I ever stepped on campus, I was treated very warmly by everyone associated with the University."

Coach Kim Rosamond expressed her excitement about Carter joining the team, stating, "Keeley has done nothing but win her entire career. She led her team to the state tournament three times in high school, was named TSSAA Class AA Miss Basketball, broke records at Trevecca, and helped lead them to their first-ever NCAA tournament. She is a relentless competitor in everything she does and she brings a unique blend of talent, leadership, and experience to our team. We are thrilled to welcome her aboard and look forward to seeing her make an impact on the court, in the classroom, and in the community."

Carter enjoyed a legendary high school career for Coach Larry White at Macon County High School, as her team became a staple in the TSSAA state tournament during her time as a Tigerette. During her sophom*ore season, Macon County reached the state finals. As a senior, Carter was named TSSAA Class AA Miss Basketball and led her team to a 33-1 record and back to the semifinals of the state tournament, only to have their season cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As she prepares to don the purple and gold of Tennessee Tech, Carter remains focused and determined. "When I arrived on campus, I could see that it was real," she added. "I'm so happy to be part of the Golden Eagle family. I'm ready to help win another championship next year."

Arriving in Cookeville, Carter will join a Golden Eagle team that has re-established itself as one of the most consistent and successful programs in the Ohio Valley Conference. Tech will enter the 2024-25 campaign boasting six straight winning seasons, bolstered by six consecutive years of double-digit wins in OVC play. That stretch includes an impressive, three 20-win campaigns, an OVC Tournament title, and the team's first victory in the NCAA Tournament since 1990.
